Bucket List: Summer Edition!
I’m Laura, a Graphic designer intern at Kahani. To me, summer bucket lists are essential. I need to set goals for myself to get things done, and they make me feel more organized. For this summer, I had a long bucket list of items I wanted to get done before the next semester starts. Four months seems like a long time but the days just blend into one another. Sometimes, I end up just waking up, working, watching Tik Toks, reading webtoons, catching the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy, and then sleeping. Without further ado, here is my summer bucket list.
My Summer Bucket List
Sell at Art Trade Shows (this has been my goal for two years now XD)
Explore different Cafe
Indulge in self-care days (Extremely important!!)
Make a Kickstarter for my small business and finally make new products
Learn a new song on the piano and violin
Meet some new people
Watch the Spider-Verse movie (I know I am so behind)
Go to the movie theater
Have a spa day
Get my driver’s license
Make a physical art piece
Travel on my own
Wear a dress/ dress Fancy for no reason
Learn a new skill
Visit new places
Go for a run in Central Park
So in actuality, I went to 4 art trade shows and another one is coming up which I am excited about because William Shatner is going to be there, and he is one of my all-time favorite actors all time, next to Jenna Ortega and Patrick Dempsey. At the art trade shows, I ended up becoming officially part of the small business art community. I made some great friends and now have a few mentors who are helping me navigate selling my work. The community was so open, it was refreshing because I was used to communicating with other small businesses over email or Instagram DMs. The trade shows also were in different states, so I ended up visiting new places in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. On top of that I also had an excuse to dress fancy. The art shows exposed me to new things and I got to check off four boxes on my bucket list right there! BAM!!
I do explore different cafes, but because I don't have a driver’s license, it makes it hard to go whenever l want. On the other hand, because of that, I learned how to make coffee. I still have yet to get my license, but two out of three bucket list items ain’t that bad.
Another important thing on my bucket list was taking a day to just indulge myself. Honestly, I didn't get enough of those, having to push away my need to focus on getting work done for school. But now that I have time I have no excuses, I spent one day sleeping in, wearing my pajamas, and binging Never Have I Ever. It was probably the best day ever in this summer so far and I got absolutely nothing done. But it somehow also made the rest of my week more relaxing. Paying attention to my mental health and not brushing it off improved my workflow during work which was a nice surprise.
I did manage to reach most of my goals, even though there are still quite a few that have yet to be checked off. I definitely slacked off with the exercise and playing my instrument which I might not get to before the summer ends. With the time I have left this summer, I hope I can at least find time to watch the Spider-verse. There was too much hype built up for that for me to wait until next summer. I already have character preferences and I haven't watched it yet (Pavitr is the best character).
In all seriousness, I hope you guys can find time to check off a few boxes from your summer bucket list/reach your summer goals.
