1. AMC Theatres says more than 20,000 tickets have been purchased for ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’
You don’t have to be an avid movie fan, or a Barbie fan, to head out to these two films that are set to be the top runners for July, and perhaps the year. Did you buy your tickets yet?
2. First Wonka trailer shows off Hugh Grant's dancing Oompa Loompa
Ah, Timothée Chalamet. What a beautiful human. And, yes, he will be in the new Wonka movie, playing the leading role alongside Hugh Grant, as the Oompa Loompa. The movie is set to release December 15th, 2023. Excited to reignite old childhood memories?
3. Threads’ early hours marked by internet nostalgia as users feel out Twitter rival
"How am I this addicted to an app I barely know. It’s like I’m dating in my 20s again make it stop," posted beauty and food writer Charlotte Palermino on Threads.
It’s out, folks. Meta launched Threads last week, and it’s creating a lot of buzz. The app allowed users to connect their Instagram to their Threads account with an ID tag that is displayed on their Instagram page. Will Threads survive Elon Musk’s Twitter, or is Threads just a fad?
4. Renée Rapp to Leave Sex Lives of College Girls
It has been confirmed that artist and actor, Renée Rapp is set to leave the hit show, ‘Sex Lives of College Girls’. Rapp says that music was always her big goal with her career, and is releasing her first debut album, “Snow Angel,” on Aug. 18, after releasing her first EP, “Everything to Everyone” last year.
5. Orange is the New Black cast comes out with unfair compensation claims
Though I hated Brooke Soso, the actress who brought her to life, Kimiko Glenn was so real for her Tik Tok in 2020 calling out her unfair compensation for her 45 episodes on the show ‘Orange is the New Black’. Other actors, such as Beth Dover, came out to claim that it had actually cost them money to be on the show for some seasons. Castmates also still discuss the low wages and unfair residuals from the show.
6. Emmy Nominations Released
“The nominations for the 2023 Emmy Awards have been revealed, with Succession, The Last of Us, The White Lotus and Ted Lasso among the series landing the most noms.
Actors earning nominations included Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us, Jeremy Strong for Succession, Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary and Jenna Ortega for Wednesday.” ~ The Hollywood Reporter
