7/18-7/21 ICYMI: Pop Culture Recap
Today’s the day, everyone. The double feature- ‘Barbenheimer’ is officially out. Please, no spoilers, I don’t get to watch it until next week. This week has been building up the hype to the two movies’ release, but there’s also been a lot going on. Here’s what you might’ve missed.
1. Barbenheimer’: Are you Ready for Today?
If you have any way of accessing the internet, you should be pretty updated on this one. ‘Barbenheimer’ is out!! With all of the memes, press coverage, and general hype about the movies, we’re expecting good results from the release. Not to mention, the box office surge with AMC Theaters from the two films, click here to read more on that.
2. Ariana Grande and husband Dalton Gomez have separated after 2 years of marriage
In an intimate ceremony, Grande and Gomez got married in 2021 after 11 months of dating. But, in a not-so-intimate fashion, they are officially separating this year. Some reports do say that they’re already dating again, but who really knows what the future holds for these two?
3.Britney Spears and Will.i.am tease new single ‘Mind Your Business’
Oops…she finally did it again. Spears hasn’t released original solo music since her 2016 album “Glory,” but, today, she’s releasing a new single with Will.i.am, titled, ‘Mind Your Business’. Have you given it a listen yet?
4. Gigi Hadid Arrested for Marijuana Possession in the Cayman Islands
Hadid was arrested at Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10 for marijuana possession, with reports that she had “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja," according to officers. In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Hadid's reps confirmed that she had purchased the drugs "legally in NYC with a Medical license." They added, "It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island."
5. Dylan Sprouse & Barbara Palvin are Married
The lovebirds are official! Sprouse, from fan-favorite ‘Suite Life of Zack and Cody,’ and model, Palvin, tied the knot after five years together in a church on the outskirts of Budapest, Hungary.
6. Netflix Kills Off Cheapest No-Ads Plan
“Netflix is no longer offering its cheapest streaming plan without ads in the U.S. and the U.K., with the company aiming to push value-conscious consumers to sign up for its advertising-supported package.” - NBC
Netflix already dropped this plan in Canada last month, and with the latest attempts to maximize profits, this isn’t really a surprising move for the company. Kind of disappointing, not going to lie.
