If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be stepping into a Lead Visual Designer role just a year after graduation, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. Looking back, though, every step of my journey makes sense in ways I couldn’t see at the time. I trusted myself, I believed in myself, and most importantly, I always put in the extra hours that weren’t really required.
I started my design path at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where I dove deep into everything from typography to branding to editorial design. College was more than just learning software and principles. Being at MICA was where I learned how design can truly move people and help brands tell their stories in beautiful ways.
During school, I had the chance to work with some incredible companies. At Stanley Black & Decker, I sharpened my eye for corporate design and animation just a year into being a designer. At Forrester Research, I created a global sponsorship prospectus, reimagined branding for their 2025 summits, and designed custom assets for sales and customer success teams. Each role gave me a new perspective on design, whether that meant adapting to a global audience or collaborating across fast-moving teams. It was during these experiences that I began to realize where I was meant to be in design.
Fast forward to now: I’ve joined Kahani Digital as their Lead Visual Designer. At Kahani, the work feels especially close to my heart. We help brands connect authentically with their audiences, especially in the South Asian space. I get to combine strategy with creativity, making visuals that aren’t just beautiful but also rooted in culture and meaning. Every single day, the work I get to do has been incredibly fulfilling.
This role feels like the perfect blend of everything I love: design, storytelling, and working with people who are just as passionate about shaping what’s next in branding and marketing. Every project challenges me to push boundaries, whether that’s rethinking how a brand shows up on social, experimenting with fresh typography, or finding new ways to make visuals more inclusive and resonant. What excites me most is that my work doesn’t just sit on a page or a screen. It helps brands connect with their communities in authentic, lasting ways.
I know this is only the beginning, but stepping into this role has given me a renewed sense of purpose and confidence as a designer. I’m excited to keep growing with Kahani Digital, collaborating with inspiring brands, and continuing to build a career that feels both creative and meaningful.
