A Scoop of South Asian Inspired Ice Cream Brands

Okay, we know the new year is here, and with that obviously means resolutions to be the best, healthiest version of ourselves.

But a little treat here and there certainly doesn’t hurt. The next time your sweet tooth craving is kicking, why not try some South Asian Inspired Ice Cream? Over the last few years we’ve seen the (much needed) rise of all-things-South Asian-flavored. This includes cakes, pastries, drinks, and finally, ice cream. 

We’re listing a few brands we love for you to check out. Many of these brands only sell their ice creams at their brick and mortar locations or in specific grocery stores - but you can always check their website to see if they’ll ship to you!

Pints of Joy Ice Cream 

Based in Sunnyvale, Pints of Joy was founded and built by mompreneurs Ketki and Arshiya after the pandemic. The founder-friend duo had a passion for creating the most delicious and nostalgic flavors for their loved ones. With time and support, they wanted to share these flavors with their local community as well. Their flagship store has now been opened for a year, and they serve artisan, handmade ice cream made with real ingredients every day. From Gulab Jamun, to Cookies and Cream, to Vegan Alphonso Mango Ice Cream, to Bourbon Toffee, Pints of Joy has it all. 

Malai Ice Cream

Founded in 2015 by Priya Bavishi, after deciding to bring her life-long love for flavor and food, and finding the perfect yet unique combination of different tastes. Malai, figuratively meaning cream of the crop, draws inspiration from South Asian ingredients, aromatic spices, and the founder's upbringing and heritage. 

Heritage Kulfi 

Based in Princeton, New Jersey, Heritage Kufli has been serving the local community delicious, South Asian inspired ice cream. Heritage Kulfi sources high-quality, local ingredients to make authentic and classic flavors of premium ice cream. Founder Mansoor Ahmed launched Heritage Kulfi’s first full line in Winter of 2021, and now serves flavors like saffron, rosewater, vanilla bean pistachio, earl gray, and more. Koolfi Creamery

If you’re in the Bay Area, check out Koolfi Creamery! Indian inspired, and California Fresh. Founded by Priti & Mads, KoolFi Creamery is inspired by the founders’ multicultural backgrounds - Indian and German. The duo brings these flavors together at the creamery. Flavors include classic Indian Kulfi, Sweet Paan, and Cardamom, but also unique twists like Salted Caramel with Mysore Pak Crumble, Strawberry & Balsamic Vinegar, and more.
