Seva
Seva in Astoria is probably the best sit down Indian restaurant that is equal parts affordable and casual but also nice! I find that most of the Indian restaurants popping up in the city are more geared towards fine dining which is great, but sometimes I just want to sit down and have some feel-good Indian food that doesn’t break the bank and isn’t takeout.
Bungalow
Speaking of fine dining, Chef Vikas Khanna’s newest restaurant, Bungalow, in the Lower East side, is worth the splurge! I thought the dishes were innovative and quality and the interior design is just exquisite. Indian culture is not only rich through food but aesthetic and I think Bungalow represents both beautifully.
Semma
South Indian cuisine is something I never have truly experienced enough and Semma did not disappoint! Another Michelin star restaurant, I enjoyed the experience. You feel transported to the Southern region with the design of the space and are even more immersed with the delicious South Indian foods.
Rowdy Rooster (East Village)
I love a twist on Indian cuisine, especially in fast food form! Rowdy Rooster is innovative and cool and so SO spicy. I challenge you to try their level 4 of spice and report back to me!
Samosa Bites
This is a super fast casual, hole in the wall restaurant in Astoria – they have seating but I swear they don’t want you to sit there. It is cheap but quality Indian comfort food that I love to order as take out.
