I’m finally doing something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl — taking horseback riding lessons. It wasn’t that I didn’t have time before, I just never had the resources to make it happen. Growing up, I’d watch horses glide across polo fields in Jaipur and think, one day, that’ll be me. There’s always been something about horseback riding that felt so aligned with my personality — graceful, powerful, a little dramatic — like I was meant to do it all along.
It’s extra special because this was on my vision board for the year. I’d pinned a photo of a woman riding through some golden countryside, hair flying, posture perfect, completely in her element. That image became a quiet promise to myself — and now I get to check it off the board. It’s one of those full-circle moments that makes you pause and smile at how far you’ve come.
Every year, I set three “side quest” goals — things that aren’t career moves or major life milestones, but still make the year feel meaningful. This year’s were: become a barre teacher, learn to ride, and rave more.
The first two have been such fulfilling adventures. Barre has taught me strength and precision; horseback riding is already teaching me presence and trust — that balance between control and surrender. And honestly, it’s giving main-character energy in the best possible way.
As for raving more… let’s just say that side quest might not make the cut this year. My life feels quieter and more grounded at the moment — less strobe lights, more sunrises and stable visits.
There’s something deeply liberating about finally riding — maybe it’s because in every period piece I’ve ever loved, the woman on the horse was always the free one. And now, I get it. Because when you’re up there, hair flying, heart steady, it’s not just about the ride — it’s about realizing you’ve stepped into the version of yourself you always dreamed of becoming.
