My 2025 Reading Goals

2024 was a horrible year for reading for me. It was the first year I hadn’t set myself a tangible reading goal and it turns out that in doing that, I really got behind on loads of things I’ve been excited to read forever.

This is made harder by the fact that I do English Lit and university. It’s not like I’m not reading at all, but it doesn’t feel great to only be reading things for classes I take.

So, to motivate myself this year I’ve made a list of books that I would love to read by December 31st.

Here’s that list:

The Time Traveller’s Wife, Audrey Niffenger

(speculative fiction, novel)

How to Read a Tree, Tristan Gooley

(non fiction)

Exhalation, Ted Chiang

(speculative fiction, short stories)

Stories of Your Life and Others, Ted Chiang

(speculative fiction, short stories)

A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, Becky Chambers

(science fiction, novel)

Quiet, Victoria Adukwei Bulley

(poetry)

This Dark Country, Rebecca Birrell

(non fiction)

Gideon the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir

(science fiction, novel)

Cannibal, Safiya Sinclair

(poetry)

Breathless, Jennifer Niven

(YA fiction, novel)
