Low Maintenance Beauty Is The Best!

I really did used to be that girl—the one who spent hours perfecting her makeup, making sure every hair was plucked, every corner contoured, and every lash curled to perfection. It was fun, honestly. I loved getting ready. But somewhere along the way (definitely post-pandemic identity shift…) I realized something big: no one is looking as closely as I thought they were.

When COVID hit and everything shut down, I stopped getting my eyebrows done. At first, it was temporary. But then months went by… and five years later, I still haven’t gone back. Guess what? I don’t miss it. I’ve started fully embracing my thick, Indian brows—unbothered, untouched, and very much alive. And surprise: I still think I’m pretty!

Same goes for the rest of my beauty routine. I still love getting my nails done, but now I only get colored French tips. Why? Because when they grow out, it’s not as noticeable. One manicure a month, max. Minimal maintenance, maximum cute.

Shaving? Look, I’m not showing up with a full winter coat, but if I’ve got a little prickly situation happening at the beach… who’s actually noticing? Literally no one. We’re all too busy making sure our swimsuits aren’t riding up while we’re playing mermaids and bodysurfing waves.

Makeup-wise, I used to have a full 20-step routine and follow the era of the 2016 beauty gurus religiously. Now? I’ve realized that doing less not only saves time, but also looks just as good. I mean, I don’t stare at anyone’s pores or check if their highlighter is blended to the heavens…so why do I think anyone be doing that to me?

Moral of the story: you can still care about how you look and love your aesthetic without micromanaging every detail. The vibe now is low-effort, high-impact. I’m still glam, just way less high-maintenance.

So I’m curious toknow.. what are your lazy girl beauty hacks that keep you feeling cute without all the extra work? I’m always looking for ways to keep up my style with way less effort!
